National Art Honor Society

This weekend, I was able to complete my National Art Honor Society hours by working on a project with several other AP3D students, one of whom was actually planning the entire thing. Anyways, we worked on a cool mural with some visual stories to tell. I hope the recipient enjoys it, we had a great time painting it, even though we are not completely done :)

First Art Piece On Display

So, I usually make my pieces, and then they end up in the back of a cabinet. But, I now have two of my pieces on exhibition in two bathrooms in my house. The one piece is a ceramic piece, and the other set is actually just an assemblage of parts, not something I created but rather an artistic organization of raw elements.

Portland Art Museum

Today, I had the opportunity to visit the Portland Art Museum for the first time (yes I know...).

Anyways, I was able to see all of the exhibits and I especially liked the European and Contemporary sections. The photography exhibits were also interesting.

Pat Horsley!!!

Pat Horsley came into the studio and gave a really interesting presentation (AKA his wheel thrown-and-then-altered pieces captivated all of us who were there).

I tried to build three pieces inspired by Mr. Horsley, and the style of his I appreciated and tried to draw inspiration from come from this photo.

AP SHOWCASE

The AP Showcase went extremely well. It was very interesting to see and visually appreciate all of the other AP-3D and AP-2D students' individual works.

I also had two live fish on display, which many people commented on. It was really valuable to get feedback on my work on the things that people liked and the things in particular which people felt that I could expand on.

I have already tried to employ the tips and comments I received and the visual quality has slowly started to improve. :)

More Acrylic Planters on the way!

So today I was able to source up some additional pieces of plastic. So this along with some scrap wood I have will allow me to complete my concentration some time soon!

I might also try to do something for once that doesn't simply have four sides, maybe I will  go beyond my comfort zone and do five sides like the ones below!
